A BIT ABOUT ME

My name is Babs (Barbora Jones), the owner and founder of Fitness by Babs, a mobile personal training and group fitness company based in Epsom, Surrey.

My background is a blend of sports and art. Whether it’s the gym, CrossFit, lifting heavy—anything that pushes me—I’m in my element. I also have a huge love for snowboarding and that addictive swish of the board on fresh snow. On the other side of my life, I’ve always been passionate about creativity: making props, puppets, costumes, painting, drawing… I hold a degree in Special Effects (Props, Costumes & Puppets) from LCF, part of the University of the Arts London.

But over time, my passion for movement, lifting, and the incredible impact they have on body and mind grew stronger than anything else—and that’s how Fitness by Babs was born.

In 2018, when my daughter was two years old, I took a big and very scary step out of my comfort zone. I left long hours in workshops—making props, puppets, and even leather furniture for superyachts—and began studying to become a personal trainer. I wanted to build something of my own, something that would help people move more, feel better, and take control of their health.

A huge part of this shift came from my own struggles:
• Recurring lower-back injuries from snowboarding (I’ll never stop—I just stay strong enough to keep going!)
• And, most importantly, the realisation after giving birth that it’s not just your body that needs help… your mental health does too. And for mums, the support is truly limited.

As life goes on, I’ve also realised how little we talk about—or receive support for—Perimenopause, Menopause, Men’s health and mental health, and the importance of strength training for older adults.

And let’s not forget kids and teenagers! They need to see how powerful movement is and how important it is to be strong. We need to normalise exercise early, debunk myths (like “kids shouldn’t lift weights because it stops growth”—not true!), and help them build habits for life.

All of this continues to push me to study, research, and learn more about the body: injuries, the spine, posture, form, nutrition, longevity, mental health, cognitive function, and more. The more I learn, the more passionate I become about helping others.

Some of my qualifications (in addition to Personal Training):

Pre- and Post-Natal Exercise

Perimenopause to Post-Menopause Training

Older Adult Exercise Specialist

Kids & Teen Training

Kids & Teen Loaded Movement

Mental Health First Aid

Nutritional Coaching

My mission is clear.

I am here to help you feel better not only physically, but mentally too.
To show you that this isn’t about a “summer body”—this is for LIFE.

Progress happens step by step. My goal is to keep you motivated, prevent injury, build full-body strength, improve your form and posture, educate you, and guide you toward your goals—while also helping you realise that the real goal is often not just “losing weight,” but building a body you can rely on for the rest of your life.
(And yes… fat loss usually comes along as a bonus 😊)

This is why WE LIFT MORE THAN WEIGHTS.
